The evening desert safari is the flagship experience: it starts in the afternoon with a drive to Lahbab desert, includes dune bashing at sunset, and ends with a BBQ dinner and live shows at a traditional desert camp. This is the tour most first-time visitors to Dubai choose.
Pickup (depending on package), a 45–60 minute drive to Lahbab desert, dune bashing in a 4×4, a sunset photo stop, arrival at a desert camp, a short camel ride, BBQ buffet dinner with grilled meats and Arabic dishes (vegetarian available), live entertainment including belly dance, tanoura, and fire show, and return transport to the city. Total duration is about 6 hours.
What actually happens during the safari, in order. Times are approximate and shift with season.
Driver picks you up from your hotel (VIP/Private Car) or you arrive at the shared pickup (Premium). Pickup timing depends on your area — Palm Jumeirah guests start earlier than Downtown guests.
Highway drive toward Lahbab. Normal road driving. Some drivers stop briefly for tire deflation at the desert entrance.
The 4×4 drives over sand dunes — steep drops, sharp turns, accelerations. Intense and fun. Lasts about 30–40 minutes. If you've skipped bashing, you drive directly to camp on a smoother route.
The car stops at a high dune point for sunset photos. Best photo opportunity of the trip. Red-orange sand and desert panorama. Bring your phone fully charged.
You arrive at the desert camp. Short camel ride available. Henna painting, shisha corner, traditional clothing photo ops. Walk around, explore, settle into the camp atmosphere.
BBQ buffet opens. Grilled chicken, lamb, kebabs, hummus, salads, Arabic rice, bread. Vegetarian dishes are standard. Tea, coffee, water, and soft drinks included.
Belly dance, tanoura spinning performance (colorful, mesmerizing), and fire show. Performed on a central stage while guests are seated. VIP guests have better seating positions.
Drive back to the city. You're usually dropped off at your hotel by 9:30–10:00 PM depending on your area.
